At 7:30am your VSA mountain guide and our driver will pick up you from your hotel. The first stop of the day, about 45 minutes into the trip, will be at Chincero to learn about Inca traditional weaving and coloring practices. After a warm cup of coca tea, we explore their shopping areas before heading to our next location of Moray. In Moray, we have about 30 to 45minutes to enjoy the views and learn about the reason for this odd shaped landscape. The Incas were agricultural masterminds! After Moray, we take a short drive to Maras, a salt mine that has been in use for over 500 years. Here, we explore the area for about 30 – 45minutes before making our way back to the van to transport us to Ollantaytambo, the Inca Citadel.
At the Inca Citadel, we learn about the Inca building techniques and methods of transporting massive rocks that weighed tons. Once we finish the tour of the citadel, we break for a late lunch before boarding the train that will take you to Aguas Calientes and finally your hotel at Gringo Bills.
*Please keep in mind to buy snacks as we will break for a late lunch. Unless you’d like to have lunch before Ollantaytambo – which we can definitely do as well!
