At the end, we were the only people in the tour, so i an say it was private :) Yes, you have to wake up really early, but it worth - we really arrived to the summit first and it’s an absolutely different experience! Both the guide and the driver were nice, food was very good (and I’m really picky in this) - they even give you plenty of snacks and blankets - in case it’s very windy on the summit. We took the new road, and the trekking was ~1,5 hours and mostly flat! Highly recommend - yes, it’s more expensive than usual crowded group tours, but it worth every dollar we paid. The only thing I would recommend is to fix the payment on the website - there was a bit of confusion in the morning regarding where we go - classic or tres rainbows. But the guide solved it quickly. Our guide was very kind, and he took us on a thorough tour around the surrounding areas to make sure we had the best view of everything! He was very informative as he shared information on why the water colors changed in different pools. We ventured past the people to a hidden waterfall flowing into another arrangement of pools. The color was the stunning green I have ever seen. We later hiked up to the end of the tour which gave us the most epic view of the pools and the valley. It was insane! We ended the day at a locals spot where we enjoyed the most delicious trout I have ever experienced here in Peru, only s/10! Couldn’t recommend VSA.co more. 5 star experience. :) read less

8 days in Peru with VSA!! We just completed a week long visit to Peru and... read more we had VSA set everything up for us. They did amazing!!! We had guides or drivers to meet us every step of the way. The guides made the difference- their knowledge and expertise were astounding. We got comments from friends wondering how we got pictures of Machu Picchu without people in them- it is because the guide knew which direction and area to head to right off. They were always there to point out the intriguing and amusing. We always had someone we could call or reach out to if we had questions about the travel or next destination. We actually realized into the trip that we had one more day in Peru than we thought when we set up the visit through VSA and so mid way through the trip we arranged another day with flight changes, hotel changes, and they made it happen!!! We visited Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, sacred valley, Rainbow Mountain(Tres colores), Huacachina Ica, Islas Ballestas, and Lima. An all out amazing trip with amazing service. More read less
The only Rainbow Mountain to visit I did this tour by myself and it was perfect,... read more I felt comfortable and safe with both the driver and the tour guide. This is an amazing experience, very few tourists as this place remains relatively unknown (maybe Rainbow mountain many years ago). Jhimy answered all of my (many) questions and we had a good laugh along the way and he was patient with my frequent stops to acclimatise and take pictures. We had a delicious breakfast along the way, with snacks provided for the hike and then lunch afterwards.I couldn't recommend this tour enough, especially if you don't want to do the overcrowded and less fun Rainbow Mountain. Sacred Valley Tour: Noah and Hugo are First and foremost, I have booked with multiple tour companies... read more in Peru and across the world, but nothing compares with the tour to Sacred Valley with Noah and Hugo. Hugo was our driver for the day and continuously showed amazing patience, consistently opened car doors, and always made me feel extremely comfortable as his passenger. As for Noah, I almost have no words to describe how phenomenal he is as a person and as a guide. There are three main topics I must highlight.1. Noah knew the history of each site like the words to his favorite song. He fluidly riddled off facts, legends, anthropological findings, theories, and traditions in a way that had me hooked to his every word. On top of that, he answered every question I had (and let me tell you, I asked a LOT of questions) without hesitation!2. Noah was insanely thoughtful about planning. He planned out our day so that we would miss the massive waves of tourist for each site. It was so nice to have each site almost to our selves.3. Noah went above and beyond to make the day a memorable one. More importantly, he accommodated genuinely. Specifically, he is basically a professional (I am not sure if this is a fact, but he is very skilled). He took photos throughout the day and captured me in photos that I know I will keep forever. Finally, I have been in Cusco for four days and this was by far my favorite. To be honest, more than anyone else, I hope Noah and Hugo read this. You both should know that you are incredible at your jobs, and I wish you the best. read less

Tips:-Take your own snacks. -Pack a bottle of wine (lol you have to trek with it to the camp but was cool drinking wine under the stars)-if you’re not accustomed to high altitude, do as they say and drink so much water. Also- the coca leaves aren’t THAT bad. Grab a bag and keep replenishing your mouth. -wear layers & comfortable boots More read less
Trip of a lifetime! We booked this trip with VSA a few weeks before... read more our departure and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was so reassuring to see how professional and organized these guys were as we were going into this “blindly.” The earl wake-up calls were slightly painful, but once you got to your destination you immediately recognized that it was well with it (like being the only one on top of rainbow mountain during sunrise!) The tour guides were very excitable and clearly had an interest in making sure your trip would be one to remember. Our guide to Machu Picchu had been there >20 times, but he was just as excited to be there during our first. Our guide to rainbow mountain (Noah) turned out to be a professional photographer! He took amazing pictures of us with his camera without charging us extra. He then took us to a native Peruvian house for a traditional lunch - could never have had that without these guys! Can’t recommend VSA enough. Cheers! read less

Andre made comments to me indicating that it was all attitude which felt incredibly condescending and offensive. I was not offered a horse or medical attention even as I was vomitting and falling along the way. Andre's recommendation was that I continue with the trek, knowing that the second day would be the most challenging. At this point I was severely dehydrated and altitude sickness kicked in. Finally, that evening Andre mentioned the option to see a doctor but was not enthusiastic about this option. I ultimately decided to return back to Cusco the next day and saw a doctor who had been at the camp the whole time in the morning who basically said I was so dehydrated and my oxygen levels were so low that I should go straight to a clinic. No doubt this trek is challenging, but I feel that the guides were nothing short of negligent. Visit South America helped us as much as they could and offered transportation back but we did have to pay for our own train ride to Machu Picchu which thankfully I was better for and was able to see. Again this review is mostly for Andre from Salkanty Trekking Company. I'm all into spirituality and mental strength but there comes a time when you need medical attention and that is where they failed. More read less

Sofia was extremely reliable and responsible, prompt in her responses and offered great creative suggestions to add to our itinerary. We managed to put together a fully customized trip at a very reasonable price. Hilton even got us multiple upgrades on hotels, bus services etc with no additional costs. The moment we landed in Peru, we were greeted and hosted by English speaking guides. We never once felt lost in this foreign country despite not knowing a single word of Spanish. Our guides in Peru: Noah, Becker and Indira, were knowledgeable, funny, detail oriented and offered exceptional service in our private tours in Lima, Machu Pichu, Humantay Lake, Tres Rainbow Mountains and Lake Titicaca. Noah was particularly helpful in Cusco, when I suffered from a serious case of high altitude sickness, he was available at 4am in the morning to contact medical staff and arranged for a doctor to come check up on me. He was always there for us and made our trip so much more effortless. In Uyuni, we had a truly unique experience hosted by Jeff. Despite our visit in the dry season, Jeff was able to locate a pool of water for us to capture the most beautiful mirror reflections. On top of being a wonderful, cheerful and creative tour operator, Jeff has also gone above my expectations to help me create the perfect proposal scenario - in the middle of the salt flats with wine and flowers which he personally brought all the way from La Paz! It shows how much thought and effort he puts in to create a memorable experience for us and the perfect engagement scenario. Needless to say, this was the defining moment for both of our lives and an unforgettable one. This is definitely the best trip of my life so far and we wouldn't hesitate to book with VSA for our next South America trip! read less

The whole thing was awesome. Made our trip so enjoyable and stress free.We had most things planned out before the trip. We basically got to design our own itinerary but Hilton had so many great tips and was so helpful. The tour guides/drivers were so friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us so much information but also gave us insight into the local culture. Peru's culture and history is fascinating and I think we would have missed out on a lot if we hadn't been able to spend time with them.Even when we were in Peru Hilton was available whenever we had questions so we always felt supported. Overall I absolutely recommend VSA. It is a unique experience that is easy to plan/personalize and incorporates local culture. 3-Day Rainbow Mountain Trek We spent 10 days throughout Peru (Cusco, Pisac, Lima), but... read more nothing compares to the 3 1/2 days we spent with Visit South America. We were short on time, so decided to cram the 4-day trek within 3 days, and the VSA crew did an amazing job making this possible. VSA's level of communication throughout the 5 months leading up to the trip was outstanding (they were great at adjusting to our non-stop changing plans). At first, we we're worried about the price ($550 each person), because we knew there were cheaper local options available. However, after only the first day, we knew we picked the right company and already felt we got our money's worth. Most notably, our Guide Noah was the best. Our trip was particularly tougher than the others offered, but Noah knew exactly how to push us, how to deal with any altitude problems that arose, and knew the vast landscape and shortcuts better than anyone I could have imagined. As far as the actual trek itself, it was something words can't describe. We decided to the do the Rainbow Mountain trek after seeing the hundreds of pictures throughout social media, but not even pictures can do this trip justice. Every hour, every peak, and every day, were completely different. For example, at one moment your surrounded by vast greenlands, and then the next, you're surrounded by Ausangate glacier and its surrounding lakes. Fast forward a day, and you'll find yourself in a Mars-like valley full of multi-colored sand. Yes it was tough, but every single part of it was worth it.We then went on to Lima for the food and the city life, but nothing compares to week spent with Noah, the cook, the porter, and the services this company offered. In fact, we're already talking about our next stop in South America with this company. Do it! read less

This is where they ask you if you will need a horse or not. For the horse, you can get a horse round trip which is 80 soles or 60 soles one way. You must tell the locals if you want a round trip right away. My friend chose to do roundtrip because she wasn’t adjusting very well. I did one way that way I could keep up with the horse on the way up which would be the harder part and hike and take my time and take photos on the way down. That would also get us to the view point faster so we can catch the sunrise. Our guide Noah, was incredible! He kept checking up on us making sure we were feeling good even though he was on foot (almost jogging) while we were on horse. He also took photos and videos for us while we were on the horses as you need both hands on the saddle at all times since the horses ride right along the edge. You come to a point where the horses are no longer allowed up and you MUST go on foot. It is a STEEP climb. Take your time. I was able to go a faster pace than my friend so Noah had said for me to go ahead and he will stay with my friend. As I look back I see him constantly comforting her and reassuring that she is okay and that she can do it. That made me feel comfortable to go ahead and explore on my own and the best part! I was one of the first few people at the top! Once at the top the views make it so worth the hike! It is so incredibly beautiful! There are no words to describe it.
