What travellers say about our Uyuni tours

4.9 ★★★★★ 700+ on Tripadvisor Trustpilot
“From the time we arrived in Peru until the last minute that we stayed there, we were taken good care of by the VSA team! Loved how tailor-made their services are, custom-made to the time we had in Peru and the places we most wanted to experience. I look forward to visiting South America again and knowing VSA will be there to take care of absolutely everything makes us more at ease to travel there.”

“Honestly, Visit South America is one of the best companies I’ve ever booked a tour through. Awesome driver and guide, they were tons of fun very informative, and oh-so-helpful! The Bolivia trip was incredible... Thank you guys!”

“5 stars all around! Great company, service, and transportation. They really take the anxiety and stress out of traveling as they run extremely smoothly including meals, transportation, translation, etc. Just about everything to make your trip to Cusco special. Highly Recommend!!!”

What we do, and why we do it

Premium tours across South America, born on the salt

Uyuni is where our premium journeys began. Today we design and operate premium private tours across all of South America, from Peru, Bolivia and Chile to Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador, with our own local teams. The people who plan your trip are the people who have driven the routes.

More than 5,000 travellers since 2015, and the model hasn't changed: one margin, no middlemen, and a phone that gets answered.

Content creators

Made with Bolivia's creator community

Both films on this page were shot by @matiasderada, content creator and Visit South America ambassador. Behind him is our complete in-house Filmmaking 360 team, and Una Gran Nación, the largest community of content creators in Bolivia.

If you create content, we shoot with you: locations, light, logistics and a crew that knows the flats.

Our philosophy

You don't remember a place. You remember how it made you feel.

Silence at 3,650 metres. A sky doubled in water. Dinner on the salt with nobody else for miles. We design around the feeling first, then find the places that deliver it.

Our guide to premium travel

What premium means on the Salar de Uyuni

For some, it is a salt-brick suite with the flats at the door and a private chef at dusk. For others it is a 4x4 that leaves when you are ready, a guide who knows where the light falls at 6:40, and a plan that changes when the weather does.

Every Uyuni premium tour we create is shaped around you: exceptional places, seamless planning and people on the ground who answer the phone. Planned with care. Delivered without fuss.

Uyuni premium tours

Questions, answered

What makes a Uyuni tour premium?

A private 4x4 and guide for your group only, salt or boutique hotels instead of basic refuges, a pace set by you, and a plan that changes with the weather: rainy-season reflections, sunrise on the flats, stargazing when the sky allows.

When is the best time to visit the Salar de Uyuni?

The mirror effect appears in the rainy season, roughly January to March. The dry season, from May to October, gives the endless white hexagons and the clearest night skies. Both are spectacular; we plan around the light you want.

Can we do Uyuni from San Pedro de Atacama?

Yes. Our private 3 and 4 day tours cross from San Pedro de Atacama through the Bolivian altiplano to the salt flats, one way or round trip.

Do you work with content creators?

Yes. Both films on this page were shot by our ambassador @matiasderada. Our in-house Filmmaking 360 team and the Una Gran Nación community, the largest group of content creators in Bolivia, shoot with creators on the flats. Send us your brief and we plan the locations and the light.

How does altitude affect the trip?

The Salar de Uyuni sits at about 3,650 metres. We build acclimatization into our itineraries rather than selling around it, our guides are local and know the symptoms, and the pace adjusts when someone needs it.
