Itinerary

Day 1Cusco/Qesuno/Ausangate Mountain/Anata

We begin our day with pick-up from your hotel at 4:00am and begin our 3hr hour drive to the village of Qesuno. Here we enjoy a light breakfast prepared by your chef as the team begins to pack for our gear for the next two days. After breakfast, we continue towards the trailhead and being our adventure towards the beautiful Ausangate mountain. We pass through lush green valleys and see hundreds of alpacas roaming around the land. We continue this hike for about 4hours until we reach the Puccacocha pass.

Here you will enjoy 360 views of the beautiful and impressive Ausangate mountain and the glacial lakes below. This is where you want to take out your camera and fire away with your shots! After completing the pass, we take a break to enjoy lunch and refuel for the second half of the hike. You’ll have some time to relax before beginning back up again.

After 2hrs of hiking, we arrive to Anata, which will be our campsite for the night. Enjoy a relaxing evening by taking photos in the nearby area or taking a nap before having dinner cooked up and served by our chef. We recommend drinking some coca tea to assist in your relaxing and ease your transition into the higher elevation. After dinner, you can opt in to play cards or prepare for some night photography. Be prepared to witness an insane amounts of stars and constellations in the sky before heading back to your tent to rest.

Day 2Anata/Los Andes/Rainbow Mountain/Cusco

Today is the day! We wake up early to begin our hike to the view point of Rainbow Mountain for sunrise. After a light breakfast, we gear up and make our way towards the trail. After 3.5 hrs of hiking, you’ve made it to the summit – you made it! Enjoy the 360 degree view of the red valley, snow peaked mountains and looming Ausangate Mountain in the distance. Best part is that we arrive before all the other travel companies so we have the area completely to ourselves, truly a magical time! After taking our photos and enjoying the view, we have the option to visit the red valley (an additional 1hr hike) before making our way back to our transfer back to Cusco. Once we arrive to the trailhead, after 2hrs of hiking downhill, we enjoy our box lunches prepared by our chefs before continuing on our 3hr transfer back to Cusco. We conclude the day by dropping you off at your hotel by 4:00pm / 4:30pm depending on the traffic.

TRUSTWORTHY EXPERIENCE

From the time we arrived in Peru until the last minute that we stayed there, we were taken good care of by the VSA team! Loved how tailor-made their services are, custom-made to the time we had in Peru and the places we most wanted to experience. I look forward to visiting South America again and knowing VSA will be there to take care of absolutely everything makes us more at ease to travel there.
