Altitude: 3650m (11.975 ft)
Difficulty: Medium (High altitude)
Our expedition begins at 10:30 am (the pickup must be coordinated with our team) We will visit as the first destination the 'Train Cemetery' an open air abandoned museum of locomotives of the XIX century (1940) with crucial importance for the Bolivian history We will have time to take photos on the site and the explanations of our local guide. Our trip continues through the little town of 'Colcachi', a small town located on the border of the Salt Flats, this place is characterized by its souvenirs & crafts of alpaca, vicuña and other unique salty decorations, in addition to its salt miners who process salt to be sold to the local public. (Not long ago 31 kilos of salt used to cost 0.90 US dollar cents, can you believe it?). Colchani is also the place that houses the only salt hotels in the world, including Palacio de Sal, Luna Salada and Cristal Samana.
All set to discover the largest salt desert in the world? It is here where the real adventure begins! We enter to the salt flats at approximately 12:30, among some visits are the 'Eyes of Salt', 'Salt Crystals' and we will also discover the famous statue of 'Dakar' (automobile event of the most dangerous routes in the world that runs in Bolivia). We go further into the desert to enjoy a Picnic Lunch in the middle of the Salar, perfect moment to feel small and in total peace!
Stomach full, it's time to walk! We will discover the famous Incahuasi Island, Isleta full of giant Cacti that can measure more than 10 meters high. Believe it or not this island is an immense coral where you can appreciate beautiful landscapes within it and also has the best views of Salar de Uyuni. Our expedition will last approximately 50 min. (It is recommended to take the walk calmly and carefully).
Important note: In the rainy season from January - April , the salt flat is flooded and due to security measures it is not possible to enter Isla Incahuasi, Isla Pescado, Tunupa Volcano and all destinations where the water could damage the state of the vehicle engine.
Arriving again at the edge of the island we meet again with our driver to go to a place away from the crowds and take funny pictures with perspective. It's fire time! Together in the middle of the salt we will await the sunset and enjoy a toast of courtesy. We will return to the town of Colchani and check in at an exclusive Salt Hotel 4* plus, which includes the use of the Spa and other activities. At 9pm we have a buffet dinner in the hotel to end the day.

Day 2
Duration: 10:30 am to 7:15 pm
Distance: 145 km (90 mi) 4WD expedition / 50 min hiking
Altitude: 3650m (11.975 ft)
Difficulty: Medium (High altitude)
9am we will enjoy our buffet breakfast at the hotel, we must have all the luggage ready to start our second great adventure! The day in Mars begins with the visit of the main viewpoint of the Ollagüe Volcano, where you can observe the fumaroles and explore kilometers of petrified lava with very interesting formations. We also visit a huge “forest rocks’! if we are lucky we will enjoy our curious friends called "Vizcachas" (big wild rabbits) and the famous Andean Fox. Our path will become more arid and the landscapes will begin to honor the planet Mars.
We will arrive at our destination of the day! After passing the forest of rocks, we will enjoy 4 beautiful highland lagoons, 2 of them with flamingos on the banks. (And yes! Bolivia has 3 species of pink flamingos and also the largest population in South America!) We will have time to take photos at each stop, the local guide will give us a general explanation of the entire region and prepares a lunch with the driver on the banks of Laguna Hedionda to enjoy the landscape.
Note: It is not allowed to use drones on the lagoons, get too close to the flamingos or feed them. They are too shy and often stress with the environment and decide to migrate very easily.
We will end our journey exploring the stunning Siloli Desert, a desert full of surprises! Stones carved with the wind, surreal landscapes to the surroundings and a rough population of wild vicuñas throughout the region! Welcome to Hotel Tayka del Desierto 3* superior, an hotel managed by the locals that is literally located in the middle of nowhere! Inside the hotel we will have time to rest, appreciate the sunset in the surroundings and end the day with a local dinner.
* Hotel Tayka del Desierto 3* Boutique or similar
Day 3
Duration: 10:30 am to 7:15 pm
Distance: 145 km (90 mi) 4WD expedition / 50 min hiking
Altitude: 3650m (11.975 ft)
Difficulty: Medium (High altitude)
Today is the most important day of our trip! We started with the first rays of sun and enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel at 5:30 a.m. Then 6am approximately we start our day scouting the deserts! Our first stop will be the "Stone Tree" A natural monument carved only by the wind, with more than 5 meters high, we will have time to take pictures in the place and explore the surroundings.
After 20 min in the car we will discover the most important attraction of the region! Welcome to the majestic Laguna Colorada, once nominated among one of the natural wonders of the world, is a sanctuary that houses the largest population of pink flamingos in the world. It is a lagoon of 54km2 of extension and the marvelous thing of the same one is the colors that it obtains thanks to the light of the sun, minerals and algae that turn their waters into an intense red whole. We will have enough time to visit the main viewpoint of the lagoon and take pictures of the landscapes.
We will register our visit to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve (psssst you can ask your stamp of the Reserve Eduardo Avaroa in your passport here) and then continue on our way to the "Geyser Sol de Mañana" and enjoy the landscapes of Mars. This region is full of volcanic activity where one can see fumaroles and geyser for around 2km. Time for a dip! The thermal waters of Polques await us to relax the body, the landscapes around are from another planet and we are sure that you will enjoy your time at this stop. (Be careful to win a cold, we recommend you be ready with towels and dry clothes, you can also rent towels with 10Bs)
After being 100% ready we will go from the red planet to Salvador Dalí's surrealist paintings! On the way to Laguna Verde (border with Chile) we will visit one of the most impressive desert in South America. It is called Salvador Dalí's Desert and it gives tribute to this great Spanish artist since the 360 landscapes are unreal, full of intense colors, impressive mountains and unusual colors. It is also the perfect place to see vicuñas in their natural habitat.
Last stop of our Safari! We enjoy the views of the "Laguna Verde" a lagoon without natural life due to its high concentrations of minerals, this lagoon turns the color of its waters into an intense turquoise (better views from May to November) thanks to the minerals and sunlight . We will have time to explore the area. On our return to Uyuni we will have a couple of extra stops that depend a lot on weather and weather, we will also enjoy our picnic lunch at the place chosen by the driver. We will arrive approximately at 5:00 pm to Uyuni where we will leave all the equipment loaned in office and then drop you off to your hotel or coordinate the transfer to the airport.
Best Time To Visit Uyuni? Whole Year, if you are looking for photography reflection: February to April.
About the Rainy Season in Uyuni - Problems with the rains that do not allow destinations such as Isla Incahuasi, Tunupa Volcano and bad for perspective photos.
CORONA VIRUS in Uyuni: Minimum cases detected, safe destination | Taking a private tour is the only option in the meantime, we recommend going between 3 to 4 people maximum. The use of surgical masks is mandatory, the use of alcohol gel for hands is the same inside the car and closed spaces. On the other hand, the only way available to get to Uyuni is by bus (or train if you want an adventure experience) remember that the tour begins directly in the city of Uyuni.

8 days in Peru with VSA!! We just completed a week long visit to Peru and... read more we had VSA set everything up for us. They did amazing!!! We had guides or drivers to meet us every step of the way. The guides made the difference- their knowledge and expertise were astounding. They were always there to point out the intriguing and amusing. We always had someone we could call or reach out to if we had questions about the travel or next destination. We actually realized into the trip that we had one more day in Peru than we thought when we set up the visit through VSA and so mid way through the trip we arranged another day with flight changes, hotel changes, and they made it happen!!! HUACACHINA 6-STAR EXPERIENCE WITH VSA Did a day tour to Huacachina with Visit South America... read more (VSA) at the end of April. Overall a 6-STAR experience with VSA! About halfway through the drive there, we stopped to get lunch at a local restaurant provided by VSA which was very delicious. We finally arrived at Rainbow Mountain and it honestly felt like entering a different world, having the place all to ourselves. Experiencing this place before other people arrived truly was phenomenal. Having panoramic views of mountains and fields for miles and miles, being entranced by the stillness and beauty of this sacred place, was... Where to even begin! It was my cousin & my first time visiting Peru (which is an absolutely breathtaking country in itself), and thankfully with the private tour provided to us by VSA, our experience became so much more memorable. We did the Rainbow Mountain tour fully planned and accommodated by our amazing guide, Hilton Davila. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable in providing us information throughout our tour and super helpful with any questions asked, but he was also so passionate and enthusiastic about what he does which made all of the difference in the quality of our experience. Additionally, on the trail, we encountered the nicest locals and the cutest alpacas! As we arrived at the top of the mountain, once again, it felt like having the place all to ourselves- an absolutely indescribable feeling of being connected and one with nature. We stayed a couple hours up there to relax, reflect, take pictures, explore, and simply indulge ourselves in the moment and take in as much as possible. Overall, our Rainbow Mountain tour by Hilton exceeded expectations and was worth every moment. My only regret is that I did not book a longer tour with them! If you want an experience that is genuine and authentic, then VSA is the company you want to book with. Everything about our tour was planned out perfectly and so much fun, thanks to this amazing team and their passion for adventure. Sacred Valley tour I am truly blown away by the experience we had... read more with Noah on the Sacred Valley tour. He planned our day out to best avoid the crowds, and there were very few people at all of the sites we visited (which normally get extremely congested). Noah is extremely knowledgeable about Peru’s past history and modern day culture- I easily learned more from him than I ever could from a book. The highlight of the tour were our conversations about the history, which were enhanced by the historical settings of the sites we visited (all were breathtaking). Not to mention, he is also a talented photographer, and took so many pictures of us on his professional camera. We had so much fun with Noah that by the end of the tour we felt like we made a great friend, and were sad to leave! This was one of the best tours I’ve ever been on and HIGHLY recommend Noah (as well as Hugo, our driver, who was so kind, patient, and friendly). Both went above and beyond to make this trip special for us, and it was definitely the highlight of our trip. More read less

Memorable trip Just done a 21 day private trip through Chile, Bolivia... read more and peru with VSA. I was worried at first because but it turned out to be one of the best trips of my travel life. Picked my own spots of interest from the unique collections on their instagram, and Sofia helped make it happen by planning the itinerary for us. Everywhere we arrived, there was at least one guide waiting for us, picking us up and showing us the best of that place. It was like having very good local friends who are super nice and knowledgeable, willing to go beyond their job, taking their time to make sure we had a good time. Really appreciated Jeff, Sergio, Noah, Indira of VSA and all guides from other coordinated tours that we took during the trip. Especially Hilton, although we didnt get a chance to meet him, he was there for us almost everyday, answering our questions and making sure we are safe and enjoying our trip. Thumbs up for VSA, if only they operate everywhere in the world, I would book all my trips with them. read less
Best Trip of my life - 2 weeks in Peru and Bolivia! I have always planned to propose to my girlfriend in... read more Salar de Uyuni and after making a few comparisons I finally decided to organize this special 2 week south america trip with VSA! Best decision ever. From a few months before the trip, we started with the customization of the trip with Sofia and Hilton. Sofia was extremely reliable and responsible, prompt in her responses and offered great creative suggestions to add to our itinerary. We managed to put together a fully customized trip at a very reasonable price. Hilton even got us multiple upgrades on hotels, bus services etc with no additional costs. The moment we landed in Peru, we were greeted and hosted by English speaking guides. We never once felt lost in this foreign country despite not knowing a single word of Spanish. Our guides in Peru: Noah, Becker and Indira, were knowledgeable, funny, detail oriented and offered exceptional service in our private tours in Lima, Machu Pichu, Humantay Lake, Tres Rainbow Mountains and Lake Titicaca. Noah was particularly helpful in Cusco, when I suffered from a serious case of high altitude sickness, he was available at 4am in the morning to contact medical staff and arranged for a doctor to come check up on me. He was always there for us and made our trip so much more effortless. In Uyuni, we had a truly unique experience hosted by Jeff. Despite our visit in the dry season, Jeff was able to locate a pool of water for us to capture the most beautiful mirror reflections. On top of being a wonderful, cheerful and creative tour operator, Jeff has also gone above my expectations to help me create the perfect proposal scenario - in the middle of the salt flats with wine and flowers which he personally brought all the way from La Paz! It shows how much thought and effort he puts in to create a memorable experience for us and the perfect engagement scenario. Needless to say, this was the defining moment for both of our lives and an unforgettable one. This is definitely the best trip of my life so far and we wouldn't hesitate to book with VSA for our next South America trip! read less

Amazing 3D Tour in Uyuni, Bolivia I booked the 3 days Salar de Uyuni Tour. I... read more had a great time not only visiting the Uyuni salt flats but also lagoons and volcanic hot springs all around the altiplano which totally exceeded my expectations. I was really happy with our driver/guide Carlos as he always provided us with a lot of information about the places we visited, apart from being the fastest driver of them all! The staff in the two different hotels we stayed was super nice and helpful. Our group consisting of 6 people was fun, too. We always had enough time to take pictures or enjoy the view for as long as we wanted. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were surprisingly good with vegetarian options.I booked the option going to San Pedro de Atacama where I had to change cars at the border which was no problem at all. The driver provided us with the necessary document to cross the border. Not to mention, that if any problem occurred, I could have called the guys from VSA.Thank you, VSA for this incredible experience! Highly recommend! More read less
Flawless experience in Cusco! Love VSA Love this company! I first got in contact with Jeff... read more from Visit South America. I had questions about traveling to different parts of South America and he recommended Peru and Bolivia because of the weather and incredible places to visit. I finally decided to visit Peru and it was the best decision! My friends and me had a blast exploring with the VSA team Noah, Sofia, and Hilton were so helpful and very friendly with any questions we had and advice we needed. I honestly don’t think our time in Cusco specifically would have been so great without this team! They took us to the best restaurants and recommended a bunch of different cute coffee shops and shops we could visit even after our tour had ended! They were always a text away. Oh, and the food that we were served during each tour was delicious! Thank you so much for making this trip one to remember! <3 More read less
Sacred Valley Tour: Noah and Hugo are First and foremost, I have booked with multiple tour companies... read more in Peru and across the world, but nothing compares with the tour to Sacred Valley with Noah and Hugo. Hugo was our driver for the day and continuously showed amazing patience, consistently opened car doors, and always made me feel extremely comfortable as his passenger. As for Noah, I almost have no words to describe how phenomenal he is as a person and as a guide. There are three main topics I must highlight.1. Noah knew the history of each site like the words to his favorite song. He fluidly riddled off facts, legends, anthropological findings, theories, and traditions in a way that had me hooked to his every word. On top of that, he answered every question I had (and let me tell you, I asked a LOT of questions) without hesitation!2. Noah was insanely thoughtful about planning. He planned out our day so that we would miss the massive waves of tourist for each site. It was so nice to have each site almost to our selves.3. Noah went above and beyond to make the day a memorable one. More importantly, he accommodated genuinely. Specifically, he is basically a professional (I am not sure if this is a fact, but he is very skilled). He took photos throughout the day and captured me in photos that I know I will keep forever. Finally, I have been in Cusco for four days and this was by far my favorite. To be honest, more than anyone else, I hope Noah and Hugo read this. You both should know that you are incredible at your jobs, and I wish you the best. read less
