Sacred Valley tour I am truly blown away by the experience we had... read more with Noah on the Sacred Valley tour. He planned our day out to best avoid the crowds, and there were very few people at all of the sites we visited (which normally get extremely congested). Noah is extremely knowledgeable about Peru’s past history and modern day culture- I easily learned more from him than I ever could from a book. The highlight of the tour were our conversations about the history, which were enhanced by the historical settings of the sites we visited (all were breathtaking). Not to mention, he is also a talented photographer, and took so many pictures of us on his professional camera. We had so much fun with Noah that by the end of the tour we felt like we made a great friend, and were sad to leave! This was one of the best tours I’ve ever been on and HIGHLY recommend Noah (as well as Hugo, our driver, who was so kind, patient, and friendly). Great Experience Wed booked the Tres Rainbows Day Tour with Jacob, and... read more could not have asked for a better tour guide! We loved talking to him about everything Cusco and Peru, and loved getting information about the different minerals which creates the beautiful scenery, and also the surrounding mountain ranges. Afterwards we pulled over and had a great lunch picnic style! We really enjoyed this trek as we were told that the popular Rainbow Mountain is pretty difficult. We were able to see everything that you get to see on the popular one, but it was much less crowded and pretty simple.Sophia was great to work with on the administrative side of things, and was on top of everything with suggestions on what to do. Salkantay was a dream My fiancé and I began planning our trip after spontaneously... read more buying flights to Lima 7 months in advance. I worked with Sophia on the planning and she was so friendly and helpful despite my million questions and revisions. We did a couple treks but my favorite, by far, was the Salkantay 2day trek with overnight stay in the domes. Machu Picchu was enjoyable but, as expected, touristy. Not my favorite. Salkantay was the true experience we hoped it would be. Other reviews talk about the hike being difficult due to altitude- and it was. I’m moderately athletic and do cardio exercise regularly - it was still hard. However! I love horses and took the opportunity to enjoy one trek in a saddle. SO WORTH IT. No sense of regret going this route- it gave us the chance to really take in all the scenery through the entire trek instead of watching our step on the very loose rocky path. But either way- our guide, on this trek and others, walked at a slow pace. This isn’t normal for me as I preferred to “go go go.” But I eventually picked up on why (breathing techniques) and enjoyed the hikes much more thereafter. Further, if you’ve looked up Salkantay I hope you’ve seen the domes. Yes -they are as cool as the pictures. With the weather we had, the dome got a bit foggy after being in it a while but the stars were very visible before. We just set an alarm around midnight to crawl out of the dome to star gaze for a bit. I loved them- I also enjoyed watching my 6’4 fiancé crawl in and out of the tiny door. Tips:-Take your own snacks. -Pack a bottle of wine (lol you have to trek with it to the camp but was cool drinking wine under the stars)-if you’re not accustomed to high altitude, do as they say and drink so much water. Also- the coca leaves aren’t THAT bad. Grab a bag and keep replenishing your mouth. -wear layers & comfortable boots read less
For Salkantay Trek 4D only Overall our experience with Visit South America was great, so... read more great that I am starting my review that way. Andre made comments to me indicating that it was all attitude which felt incredibly condescending and offensive. I was not offered a horse or medical attention even as I was vomitting and falling along the way. Andre's recommendation was that I continue with the trek, knowing that the second day would be the most challenging. At this point I was severely dehydrated and altitude sickness kicked in. Finally, that evening Andre mentioned the option to see a doctor but was not enthusiastic about this option. I ultimately decided to return back to Cusco the next day and saw a doctor who had been at the camp the whole time in the morning who basically said I was so dehydrated and my oxygen levels were so low that I should go straight to a clinic. No doubt this trek is challenging, but I feel that the guides were nothing short of negligent. Visit South America helped us as much as they could and offered transportation back but we did have to pay for our own train ride to Machu Picchu which thankfully I was better for and was able to see. Again this review is mostly for Andre from Salkanty Trekking Company. I'm all into spirituality and mental strength but there comes a time when you need medical attention and that is where they failed. More read less

May visit - Huaraz Seriously, an absolute incredible experience with the folks at Visit... read more South America. - We did the Huayhuash circuit in Huaraz and it was seriously one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world. Our guides went over a detailed itinerary the day before we left for the trek, and made sure we understood the route. We trekked through high altitude mountain passes at elevations of over 5300m. This means the air is very thin. Be in good physical condition if you are thinking of doing the full circuit. We chose not to have any rest days and ended up completing the trek in 7 days (over 125kms). The guides that were assigned to us were friendly, professional and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner ready and waiting for us upon our arrival for each leg of the hike, as well as everyone's tents set up and waiting for us at the end of a hard days climb.Would use Visit South America again (and plan to!)5/5 read less

The best about VSA is the time of arrival. We got picked up quite early so we could be the first at the mountaintops. It was perfect to explore the landscape and enjoy this unique view. At both days we saw dozens of people climbing up to the tops where we´ve alredy been. They couldnt enjoy it as much as we did.Noé was a great gudie ! We were lucky because we´ve been the only guests that booked the trips on these days so we had our private guide. He knew a lot about the history, the environment and the country so it was very intresting to talk to him. Also he was really taking care of our needs. He arranged us horses to ride to the top, because the hike was quite demanding for us.We really had the two best days of our whole trip. Thanks VSA and thanks Noé !!! You´re a great guide !!! South America made easy! This was originally a trip to solely Peru/Machu Picchu... but... read more seeing as we were in South America, we decided to travel to a second country. We stumbled upon Hilton and his company via Instagram and he set us up in the easiest way possible! The process couldn’t have been better. However, this tour showed us more of Bolivia’s beauty than we expected! Upon arriving to Bolivia, Jeff took time out of his day to meet us at the bus station and show us around La Paz. As a resident, he was very knowledgeable in his history and we learned more than we expected in these few hours. We left so impressed with this company and it’s customer service. The only meal that wasn’t included was on the sacred valley day. We were given two options, a 50sol or 80sol lunch. This was quite pricey in our mind, as the 4 Day Bundle tour isn’t cheap. But, every other breakfast / lunch / snack was provided for us :) We had a difficult to find address in Cusco, and one day our van pickup was late by 2 hours. However, we were compensated by being bought 2 free hot stone massages! This was over and above what we’d expected. Because of the early starts, there were hardly any people at rainbow mountain by the time we got up, and literally no one below in our pictures of Machu Picchu. This company wants you to get there early to have the best pictures and it’s so worth it. One thing we didn’t realize was that our included train ticket back to Ollayntambo from Aguas Calientes was at 4pm, but this left an entire morning and afternoon free after the 6am sunrise tour of Machu Picchu. And there isn’t much else to do in Aguas Calientes. We weren’t given an option for what time our train ticket back would be at. Just a heads up! Also, I would suggest reaching out through WhatsApp the day before your tour, as the pickup times the website says weren’t necessarily the same as when the van came! And because we weren’t contacted before our 4 Day Bundle tour had started, this could have caused problems. Overall, I would highly suggest going with VSA! We had an amazing 4 days. More read less

After reading some great reviews I wanted to check them out for myself so I got in touch with VSA to help me curate a custom 6-day tour in Medellin and Cartegena. Fell in love with both cities. The tour helped me and my friends get a deeper dive into off the beaten spots and also popular ones like Comuna 13 in Medellin and the old town of Cartegena including places to eat and where to buy authentic sovenirs. Thank you to the friendly hospitality, organzied itinerary and professional service. I would def. recommend SVA for any adventures down in South America. Hit them up if you have any questions too. Noah was super knowledgable about every place we visited. He also was very nice about having to take breaks when the altitude got the best of me. Both went above and beyond to make this trip special for us, and it was definitely the highlight of our trip. More read less

However, this tour showed us more of Bolivia’s beauty than we expected! Upon arriving to Bolivia, Jeff took time out of his day to meet us at the bus station and show us around La Paz.
