They provided multiple options based on price range and what I was looking to do. I loved the 4 day option for the Cordillera Huayhuash since I didn’t have time to do the entire thing. Our guide was excellent as well as the local guide. We honestly ate better in that tent than I do normally. I’m looking to do more South America travel and will absolutely be booking with VSA! My only piece of advice is make sure to give yourself time in Huaraz to acclimate before going on a hike. I made the mistake of booking one an hour after my bus arrived and I got altitude sickness. -Pack a bottle of wine (lol you have to trek with it to the camp but was cool drinking wine under the stars)

-if you’re not accustomed to high altitude, do as they say and drink so much water. Also- the coca leaves aren’t THAT bad. Grab a bag and keep replenishing your mouth.

I got to experience 3 different rainbow mountains and some of the most stunning views in Peru.

The drive is 4 hours, but the trek to reach the very top viewpoint is only 20-minutes. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Peru.

The tour also includes a really nice breakfast and lunch. The drive is really scenic and we saw so many Alpacas on the way! read less

Since we both are photographers, we wanted a custom experience and the Visit South America team went above and beyond to fit our “photography needs”. They provided all the equipment needed for a 2 days camping in the mountains (tent, sleeping bags, camping matresses, small stove, etc) arranged a private driver for both tours  (always on time, which is something super important to us) and they even suggested some secret spots to take very unique pictures.

The best two days of our trip We booked the Tour to Humantay Lake and the Rainbow... read more Mountains. Our Tourguide was Noé. We had other tours before, but booked with another agency. On every of those trips there were problems. But not on the VSA-Tours. We got picked up exaclty at the agreed time. The trip included a good breakfast and a excellent lunch at both days. The best about VSA is the time of arrival. We got picked up quite early so we could be the first at the mountaintops. It was perfect to explore the landscape and enjoy this unique view.

At both days we saw dozens of people climbing up to the tops where we´ve alredy been. They couldnt enjoy it as much as we did.

Noé was a great gudie ! We were lucky because we´ve been the only guests that booked the trips on these days so we had our private guide. He knew a lot about the history, the environment and the country so it was very intresting to talk to him. Also he was really taking care of our needs. He arranged us horses to ride to the top, because the hike was quite demanding for us.

We really had the two best days of our whole trip. Thanks VSA and thanks Noé !!!

Everything was so well organized and smooth. Our guide on the trek was extremely kind, knowledgeable and flexible which allowed my client and I to access the viewpoints at the right time of the day. Doing the trek with Hilton (the CEO) was a real chance, he is such a funny and genuine guy and always there to help. Customers service throughout the whole trek from him and the rest of the crew was A+. Food: both packed lunches and local restaurant selections above expectations – clean and tasty, we did not get sick!

After we went to red valley (20 min hike from rainbow mtn) and it was just as incredible. Hidden Lagoons of Millpu are a must see Once we came across this location, we knew we had... read more to visit. Visit South America was able to provide a private tour to Millpu from Ayacucho so we didn’t have to go with a big crowd. Also, our bus from Lima had run late by two hours so we didn’t make it in time to our pickup. Luckily, they were understanding of our situation and waited till we arrived. As soon as we got to the agency we set off to the lagoons.

Our guide Juan was really nice, made sure we saw everything, and took us to a little spot to have some delicious trout once we were done with the trek.

Sacred Valley tour I am truly blown away by the experience we had... read more with Noah on the Sacred Valley tour. He planned our day out to best avoid the crowds, and there were very few people at all of the sites we visited (which normally get extremely congested). Noah is extremely knowledgeable about Peru’s past history and modern day culture- I easily learned more from him than I ever could from a book. The highlight of the tour were our conversations about the history, which were enhanced by the historical settings of the sites we visited (all were breathtaking). Not to mention, he is also a talented photographer, and took so many pictures of us on his professional camera. The last couple of nights at the JW Marriott in Lima also have been absolutely amazing, with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean right from our room.

The only minor suggestion we have, especially for those of you who have never hiked before, is to make sure you don’t do all the hiking during the same week. Give yourself a bit of time to acclimate and to get some rest!

We had guides or drivers to meet us every step of the way. The guides made the difference- their knowledge and expertise were astounding. We got comments from friends wondering how we got pictures of Machu Picchu without people in them- it is because the guide knew which direction and area to head to right off. They were always there to point out the intriguing and amusing. We always had someone we could call or reach out to if we had questions about the travel or next destination. We actually realized into the trip that we had one more day in Peru than we thought when we set up the visit through VSA and so mid way through the trip we arranged another day with flight changes, hotel changes, and they made it happen!!! At this point we were already on our way to Cusco, so not only did Hilton track down my phone (by making numerous calls), he had it hand-delivered back to me in Lima 2 weeks later, when we had a connecting flight back to the US!

Everything about the Huacachina day-trip was as advertised (highly recommended), but how VSA dealt with our “hiccups” of the day – was on such an elite level of service, that frankly we’ve never experienced before.

The listing on TripAdvisor says 2-8 persons per tour, but we were a little spoiled as it was just the two of us plus our driver and tour guide in a 4x4 Hyundai. The tour guide provides a cold breakfast that is disgusting at best (but still nice that they provide it) and a lunch. I recommend bringing your own snacks or food to munch on in case you do not want a burger bun with a slice of ham and cheese. Incredible experience visiting Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley with Visit South America We had such a great experience with Visit South America.... read more We got picked up the earliest out of all the tour companies in order to guarantee we were the first ones to the top of the mountain for sunrise. We were picked up on time in a very comfortable shuttle bus, provided blankets and pillows for a nap on the way. When we arrived we were given a nice coca tea and some breakfast before we started hiking. As promised, we were first to the top and had the view all to ourselves for 40 minutes!

Our tour guide, Noah, was amazing and very knowledgeable with the culture and helped us with some awesome photography tips.

Buffet lunch was delicious and plenty to eat after a busy morning! They were even kind enough to drop us off at the bus station and made sure our timing was perfect to return to Cusco. More read less

We really wanted to do Millpu Lagoon near Ayacucho and the tour said it would include, transportation, a guide, and food (lunch +snacks) in the included price.

The guide and driver picked us up super early from Cusco and drove 3 hours to get to the lagoon. They were super awesome and professional, but was surprised to pay for our lunch and snacks but anyways, we made our way to the lagoon and got there before any other tours (which was a huge plus).

We would recommend this tour to our friends or family! But I would suggest making sure that the food is included in the tour!

Hidden Lagoons of Millpu are a must see Once we came across this location, we knew we had... read more to visit. Visit South America was able to provide a private tour to Millpu from Ayacucho so we didn’t have to go with a big crowd. Also, our bus from Lima had run late by two hours so we didn’t make it in time to our pickup. Luckily, they were understanding of our situation and waited till we arrived. As soon as we got to the agency we set off to the lagoons.

Our guide Juan was really nice, made sure we saw everything, and took us to a little spot to have some delicious trout once we were done with the trek.

After doing the Inka trail, my knees really appreciated the short 45min hike. The scenery was amazing! Our guide, Jacob, was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. We stopped to have a small breakfast prepared for us and got a packed snack bag for the trek. On the way back we stopped again to have lunch, which was a mini feast! All delicious. The man took the time to help orient me to my tour and started me off on what I needed to know to prepare for the 4 days. 1) Let's start off with the Founder of VSA, Hilton. The man took the time to help orient me to my tour and started me off on what I needed to know to prepare for the 4 days. 4) Joel: Joel was our guide for two days: The trek to Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain! This guy was the hardest working guide I've ever met. On both days, he came to pick us up from the hotel around 2:30am-3:30am and he trekked about 3-4 hours while my friend and I opted for horses because the altitude and weather was killing us. Even after a hard trek and lack of sleep, Joel would still be in great spirits in making sure we were taken care of. He would always check in on our altitude sickness, get us to our destinations on time, and he made sure our photos were picture-perfect! Our drivers for both days, Hugo and Roy, were also very sweet, pleasant, and great gentlemen in opening our doors!

My overall experience was awesome. The tour package made sure we got to our destinations at PRIME TIMES when not much people are around so we can actually experience our destinations to its full capacity. Even though we needed to get up early for some of these tours, it was all so worth it! Their two days of provided breakfast and lunch was awesome and quite the experience because the restaurants we went to was so authentic to Peru and the Inca experience. I recommend VSA to ANYONE who wants to do the 4 day tour. There was never a worry about how we were going to get to our destinations because of their provided transportation for us. All my friends are asking me about VSA because they saw how much fun and great pictures we had because of our awesome guides! From a few months before the trip, we started with the customization of the trip with Sofia and Hilton. Sofia was extremely reliable and responsible, prompt in her responses and offered great creative suggestions to add to our itinerary. We managed to put together a fully customized trip at a very reasonable price. Hilton even got us multiple upgrades on hotels, bus services etc with no additional costs.

The moment we landed in Peru, we were greeted and hosted by English speaking guides. We never once felt lost in this foreign country despite not knowing a single word of Spanish. Our guides in Peru: Noah, Becker and Indira, were knowledgeable, funny, detail oriented and offered exceptional service in our private tours in Lima, Machu Pichu, Humantay Lake, Tres Rainbow Mountains and Lake Titicaca. Noah was particularly helpful in Cusco, when I suffered from a serious case of high altitude sickness, he was available at 4am in the morning to contact medical staff and arranged for a doctor to come check up on me. He was always there for us and made our trip so much more effortless.

In Uyuni, we had a truly unique experience hosted by Jeff. Despite our visit in the dry season, Jeff was able to locate a pool of water for us to capture the most beautiful mirror reflections. On top of being a wonderful, cheerful and creative tour operator, Jeff has also gone above my expectations to help me create the perfect proposal scenario - in the middle of the salt flats with wine and flowers which he personally brought all the way from La Paz! It shows how much thought and effort he puts in to create a memorable experience for us and the perfect engagement scenario. Needless to say, this was the defining moment for both of our lives and an unforgettable one.

Hidden Lagoons of Millpu are a must see Once we came across this location, we knew we had... read more to visit. Visit South America was able to provide a private tour to Millpu from Ayacucho so we didn’t have to go with a big crowd. Also, our bus from Lima had run late by two hours so we didn’t make it in time to our pickup. Luckily, they were understanding of our situation and waited till we arrived. As soon as we got to the agency we set off to the lagoons.

Our guide Juan was really nice, made sure we saw everything, and took us to a little spot to have some delicious trout once we were done with the trek.

We had an amazing guide, Mike who was really helpful during the hike and encouraged us to go at our own pace. He also helped us take beautiful pictures during our climb!

Since our family wasn’t acclimated to the high altitude we weren’t able to follow the 15-25 minute duration hike which we were told was the normal pace for the locals. It took us 2 hours to climb up but only around 30 minutes to climb down (although my brother who was in great physical shape had a much faster pace and could’ve probably done it faster). There were 3 viewpoints and we enjoyed the views in each one. Along the way we also got to see some alpacas roaming around the fields as well as at the 3rd view point!

Other little things we appreciate are the blankets and pillows that they provided during the car ride (plus we were allowed to bring the blankets during the hike since it was really cold during the hike) The breakfast and lunch spread was amazing as well! More read less

He planned our day out to best avoid the crowds, and there were very few people at all of the sites we visited (which normally get extremely congested). The highlight of the tour were our conversations about the history, which were enhanced by the historical settings of the sites we visited (all were breathtaking). Not to mention, he is also a talented photographer, and took so many pictures of us on his professional camera. This is an amazing experience, very few tourists as this place remains relatively unknown (maybe Rainbow mountain many years ago). It means you get great views with little impediment. Also, you have three rainbow mountains to look at, the climb to the summit is about an hour and you also get an amazing view of the snow capped Salkantay mountains, along with the llamas and alpacas, the whole experience is incredible.

The tour guide Jhimy is amazing, super friendly, has good english and has an excellent knowledge about the Cusco region and beyond. Jhimy answered all of my (many) questions and we had a good laugh along the way and he was patient with my frequent stops to acclimatise and take pictures.

We had a delicious breakfast along the way, with snacks provided for the hike and then lunch afterwards.

Yes, you have to wake up really early, but it worth - we really arrived to the summit first and it’s an absolutely different experience!

Both the guide and the driver were nice, food was very good (and I’m really picky in this) - they even give you plenty of snacks and blankets - in case it’s very windy on the summit.

We took the new road, and the trekking was ~1,5 hours and mostly flat!

Highly recommend - yes, it’s more expensive than usual crowded group tours, but it worth every dollar we paid.

The only thing I would recommend is to fix the payment on the website - there was a bit of confusion in the morning regarding where we go - classic or tres rainbows. But the guide solved it quickly.

Despite not making it to the very top and getting sick, it was really magical to head out early and experience this amazing nature on our own. By the time we got near to the top, there were mules waiting for those who wanted to come down, so I took one for forty soles.

On the way to and from the site, Jeff and the driver provided us hot beverages. They gave us great breakfast sandwiches and an amazing lunch of local cuisine.

We have had multiple groups do the 4Day tour and have heard nothing but good things from their time on the trek. It's very disappointing hearing this about Andre and how he reacted to your sickness. I wish our team would have known the situation right after the tour so that we could have taken immediate action and requested to have a sit down with Andre. Although it has been almost 6months after the tour we will do out best to reach out to our partner Salkantay Trekking to ask him about the specific trip. We really enjoyed this trek as we were told that the popular Rainbow Mountain is pretty difficult. We were able to see everything that you get to see on the popular one, but it was much less crowded and pretty simple.

From up front, responsive communications with Sofia, to pick up and drop off, to Noah and the guides the day-of, and even helping to get amazing footage along the way, VSA is the best (and only) way to go. The wake-up call is insanely early for the RM hike, but 100% worth it when your group will be the first to arrive and beat the swarms of people coming for the day. The peacefulness helps to enjoy the tranquility, as well as get out of this world pictures. As far as customer service goes, VSA is top notch. I would imagine all of their tours, as was our Rainbow Mountain trip, are very well organized and provide the best experience possible. Turquoise Waters in Ayacucho Visit South America.co set us up with the most incredible... read more and off-the-beaten-path experience in Ayacucho. Discovering the hidden turquoise pools, mostly a local’s spot, was an absolute dream.

Communication was quick, easy, and clear. We were late arriving and the agency was totally understanding. We had a private car waiting for us so we were able to avoid going with a huge crowd.

Our guide was very kind, and he took us on a thorough tour around the surrounding areas to make sure we had the best view of everything! He was very informative as he shared information on why the water colors changed in different pools.

We ventured past the people to a hidden waterfall flowing into another arrangement of pools. The color was the stunning green I have ever seen. We later hiked up to the end of the tour which gave us the most epic view of the pools and the valley. It was insane!

We ended the day at a locals spot where we enjoyed the most delicious trout I have ever experienced here in Peru, only s/10!

Salkantay was a dream My fiancé and I began planning our trip after spontaneously... read more buying flights to Lima 7 months in advance. I worked with Sophia on the planning and she was so friendly and helpful despite my million questions and revisions.

We did a couple treks but my favorite, by far, was the Salkantay 2day trek with overnight stay in the domes. Machu Picchu was enjoyable but, as expected, touristy. Not my favorite.

Salkantay was the true experience we hoped it would be. Other reviews talk about the hike being difficult due to altitude- and it was. I’m moderately athletic and do cardio exercise regularly - it was still hard. However! I love horses and took the opportunity to enjoy one trek in a saddle. SO WORTH IT. No sense of regret going this route- it gave us the chance to really take in all the scenery through the entire trek instead of watching our step on the very loose rocky path. But either way- our guide, on this trek and others, walked at a slow pace. This isn’t normal for me as I preferred to “go go go.” But I eventually picked up on why (breathing techniques) and enjoyed the hikes much more thereafter.

Further, if you’ve looked up Salkantay I hope you’ve seen the domes. Yes -they are as cool as the pictures. With the weather we had, the dome got a bit foggy after being in it a while but the stars were very visible before. We just set an alarm around midnight to crawl out of the dome to star gaze for a bit. I loved them- I also enjoyed watching my 6’4 fiancé crawl in and out of the tiny door.

Tips:

-Take your own snacks.

-Pack a bottle of wine (lol you have to trek with it to the camp but was cool drinking wine under the stars)

-if you’re not accustomed to high altitude, do as they say and drink so much water. Also- the coca leaves aren’t THAT bad. Grab a bag and keep replenishing your mouth.

But you reach in a point in life where NY is kind of the same after a few visits or the Hollywood sign is just a sign. I did the whole Peru-Bolivia and couldn't be happier, each city felt new. Each with it's own weather, people and food. It's hard not to feel like home after a few days, only to realize you are on to next adventure. The VSA crew, arranged everything wich honestly was a deal breaker, everywhere you go there's people offering tours, and it's often that I hear i went sideways. I got to every location before everyone else, and took awesome pictures. Hands down one of the best tour agency to book your trip with. read less
