After your delicious box lunch, embark on an amazing journey through lush, green cloud forest that covers the mountain. Take in a variety of plants, flowers, orchids and birds as you make your way along the trail. If you’re lucky, you may even spot Viscachas (rabbit-like Chinchillas) or Spectacled Bears.

Is it possible to change the departure date after the Inca Trail permits have already been purchased?

It is not possible to change the departure date after the permits have been purchased - Inca Trail permits are non-transferable and non-refundable. The only information that can be changed is passport numbers.

Is it necessary to bring your original passport on the one-day Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu?

It is essential that you bring your original passport for the One Day Inca Trail hike, which should be the same one used to reserve the permit. Your passport will be checked at the Short Inca Trail checkpoint, Machu Picchu, as well as when boarding the train.

What is the timing of my Train Ticket?

The train ticket schedule depends on availability. We typically book the 6:10 am departure from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes for day one and the return train for 2:55 pm, allowing you to arrive back in Cusco at 6:30 pm and have plenty of time left over for sightseeing or activities like a Rainbow Mountain tour the next day.

Is it possible to stay in the Sacred Valley for a one day Inca Trail experience?

It is indeed possible to stay in Urubamba or Ollantaytambo for a one day Inca Trail experience. By doing so, your pickup time will be an hour and a half later than it would be if you were staying in Cusco.

How hard is 1 Day Inca Trail?

This hike is classified as difficult, it’s recomended to be in a good physical condition

When is the best time to visit?

The traditional dry season from May - September offers ideal trekking conditions throughout most regions of Peru due to warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine during this time period. However if you would prefer fewer crowds with cooler temperatures then consider visiting during either late April or October before rain arrives at lower elevations later in that month.

What kind of equipment do I need?

A good pair of hiking shoes with ankle support, trekking poles and a sleeping bag are essential items for your journey. Also make sure to pack plenty of layers including warm clothing for cold nights, waterproof outerwear for rain, sunscreen and insect repellent for sunny days. Lastly always remember your head torch since evenings on the trail can get dark rather quickly!
