Itinerary

Day 1San Pedro/Laguna Verde/HotSprings/Geysers/Laguna Colorada/Siloli

07h30

Your adventure begins early in San Pedro de Atacama, where you’ll be picked up from your accommodation and transferred to the border crossing at Hito Cajón.

10h30

After immigration formalities, you’ll switch to a 4×4 vehicle and start your journey through the dramatic landscapes of southwestern Bolivia. The first stops are Laguna Blanca and Laguna Verde, both nestled beneath the imposing Licancabur Volcano, offering a striking contrast of colors and reflections.

13h00

Continuing through the wind-swept Dalí Desert, named for its resemblance to Salvador Dalí’s surrealist paintings, you’ll make your way to the Polques Hot Springs—a perfect place to relax and take in the mountain air. Picnic local lunch.

15h00

From there, ascend to one of the tour’s highest points, the Sol de Mañana geysers, where you’ll walk among bubbling mud pools and hissing steam vents. Your final highlight of the day is the iconic Laguna Colorada, famous for its deep red waters and large colonies of flamingos.

18h00

As the sun sets, you’ll head toward the Siloli Desert, where your night’s accommodation awaits at the remote and charming desert w/ dinner.

Accommodation: Piedritas Villamar 2* or similar (check upgrades)

Meals Included: Picnic Lunch, Dinner

Day 2Rock Forests/Altiplanic lagoons/Train Cemetery/Uyuni

08h00

After a warm breakfast, your second day kicks off with a visit to the Árbol de Piedra, a gravity-defying rock formation shaped by centuries of wind erosion.

The journey continues past a series of stunning Altiplanic lagoons—Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota—where you’ll see three species of flamingos in their natural habitat, along with other birdlife and possibly wild vicuñas and Andean foxes.

11h00

From the Mirador Ollagüe, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of a semi-active volcano puffing in the distance, before descending toward the mystical Laguna Negra, a dark lagoon set between dramatic volcanic rock formations. The tour then takes you through the alien-like Valle de Rocas, where you can wander through massive, naturally carved stone formations that resemble animals, faces, and towers.

15h00

In the afternoon, you’ll stop in the mining town of San Cristobal, known for its colonial stone church and modern relocation history. Your day ends in Uyuni w/ dinner.

Accommodation: Casa de Sal 3*

Meals Included: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner

Day 3Laguna Verde - Dali - Uyuni

11h00

The final day begins around 10:30 to 11:00 AM, with a visit to Colchani, where you can browse traditional salt handicrafts and explore a small Salt Museum.

From there, the journey continues onto the Salar de Uyuni, where you’ll stop at the Flag Monument (Playa de las Banderas) and the Dakar Monument, both iconic symbols at the heart of the salt flats.

13h00

Next, you’ll see the curious Ojos del Salar, small bubbling springs that break through the crust, and formations of salt crystals shimmering beneath the surface. Midday, enjoy a private picnic lunch in the middle of the salt flats, far from the crowds—a peaceful moment in an otherworldly setting.

15h00

In the afternoon, you’ll visit Isla Incahuasi, a rocky island covered in giant cacti, coral formations, and panoramic views. A 50-minute guided trek leads to the island’s summit—only accessible during the dry season or when conditions allow.

18h30

Before heading to Uyuni, there will be plenty of time to take fun and creative perspective photos on the salt crust. The day—and the tour—ends as you watch one of the most epic sunsets imaginable, with golden light reflecting across the endless white landscape. You’ll then return to Uyuni town, with the tour finishing between 7:00 and 8:00 PM.

19h30

We return to the city of Uyuni.

TRUSTWORTHY EXPERIENCE

From the time we arrived in Peru until the last minute that we stayed there, we were taken good care of by the VSA team! Loved how tailor-made their services are, custom-made to the time we had in Peru and the places we most wanted to experience. I look forward to visiting South America again and knowing VSA will be there to take care of absolutely everything makes us more at ease to travel there.
